Going West. Wüstensand, Strandsand zum Pazifischen Ozean. Ich atme Freiheit, den amerikanischen Traum. Der horizontale Rand der Freiheit ist erreicht.
Zwei Wochen lebe ich ohne Auto in Los Angeles, Pacific Palisades in der Villa Aurora. Zu Fuß unterwegs sehe ich mir die Fortbewegungsmittel der Nachbarn an, nehme Bewegungsspuren auf. Sie durchziehen das Leben wie Reifenspuren auf der Autobahn, sich scheinbar endlos wiederholend.
Detektivisch folge ich Bewegungsmustern oder welche Spurenmuster folgen mir?
Speziell in Los Angeles, spielt der Bau der Kulisse, der Illusion, der geplanten Veränderung und des Übergangs eine wesentliche Rolle. Mit einem Nachbau der Stadtsprache auf Mustern bestehend, veränderlich durch Licht, Farbe und Strukturauftrag können sich Räume, Passagen und Labyrinthe entwickeln, die einerseits verführen oder verfolgen, besänftigen oder beängstigen. Sie können eine psychologische Topologie bilden, wie auch eine Farbkarte zur Identitätsbildung geben. Abgestellte Fassadenteile werden zu einer Spurensicherung, die eine Art Gedächtnis bilden, zu einem Andenken werden. Ein Leben im Exil.
Der Moment des Durchfahrens und der zufällige eigene Zeitabdruck kann unerwartet zu architektonischen Strukturen führen. Die Umschauende scheint gerade einem Labyrinth entkommen zu sein, das sie selbst erschaffen hat.

For two weeks now I am living in a car in Los Angeles, Pacific Palisades in the Villa Aurora. By foot I am looking at the different means of transport of my neighbors, taking moving trails. They pull through life like wheel tracks on the autobahn, endlessly repeating.
I follow these track designs, or do they follow me?
Especially in Los Angeles, the construction of the backdrop, the illusion, the planned change and the transition play an essential role. With a new construction of the language of the city consisting on patterns, variable by air, color and application of structures new spaces, transits and Labyrinths can develop, which are seducing or following, calm or frighten. So they can build a psychological topology as also a color-map to develop ones identity. Facade elements that are set aside now turn into the securing of evidence, become a kind of memory. Life in exile.
That moment of driving through and the own accidental timestamp can lead to unexpected structures. The person looking around seems to just escaped the labyrinth, which he/she constructed on his/her own.
