In amerikanischen Reisepässen werden in den USA wohnhafte Ausländer als „resident aliens“ bezeichnet. Als solcher versucht Valeska Peschke, sich den Lebensbedingungen in Los Angeles anzupassen. Mit einem Pritschenwagen und einem mobilen, komplett eingerichteten Eigenheim aus beigefarbenem Vinyl bereist sie die unterschiedlichen geographischen und sozialgeographischen Regionen Kaliforniens. Sie beobachtet die Wirkung, die ihr Instant Home auf ihre Nachbarschaft hat – sie lädt die Leute zu sich ein und stellt den Gästen auf ihrem Sofa folgende Fragen: Was ist für Sie ein Heim? Was ist Kunst? Was würden Sie auf jeden Fall mitnehmen, wenn sie ihr Zuhause verlassen müssten?“

In American passports, foreigners living in the United States are referred to as “resident aliens.” As one of these resident aliens, Valeska Peschke attempts to adapt to living conditions in Los Angeles. With a flatbed truck and a fully furnished beige vinyl mobile home, she travels throughout the various geographical and socio-geographical regions of California. She observes the effect her Instant Home has on her neighborhood and invites people to sit on the sofa in her home, where she asks them the following questions: What does a home mean to you? What is art? What would you take with you if you were forced to leave your own home?
