Die Arbeit ist eine mobile, für eine Stadt konzipierte Kolonnade. Formal folgt sie dem Motto von Mies van der Rohe, dem „beinahe Nichts“ seiner Raumkonstruktionen. Instant Modernism verbindet die überwältigende, von Mies van der Rohe angestrebte Freiheit mit der situationistischen Aneignung eines Raums. Die langgestreckte Skulptur besteht aus einem begehbaren Fußboden mit seitlich geschlossenen Wänden. Ein von vier Säulen gestütztes Dach führt die Wände fort. Instant Modernism, der die Reihe von mobilen Plugins für Instant Homes fortführt ist eine architektonische Utopie, ein Ausdruck von Sehnsucht.
Die Konstruktion aus „beinahe nichts“ kann allerdings auch pneumatisch zu Fall gebracht werden, man braucht nur den Stecker rauszuziehen – plug out. |
The project is a mobile colonnade designed for a city. In formal terms, it follows the motto of
Mies van der Rohe, and the “almost nothing” of his spatial constructions. Instant Modernism combines the overwhelming freedom that Mies van der Rohe aspired to with the Situationist appropriation of space. The elongated sculpture consists of an accessible floor with enclosed walls at each end. A roof supported by four columns serves as a continuation of the walls. Instant Modernism, which continues the series of mobile plug-ins for Instant Homes, is an architectural utopia, an expression of longing. The construction of “almost nothing” can be made to pneumatically collapse – all you have to do is pull the plug. |
